Cumberland Council is set to carry out essential carriageway resurfacing works on the A69 Warwick Road in Carlisle to help keep the road safe and in good condition for road users.
Some minor adjustments have been made to the planned traffic management arrangements for the scheme. The works will now be delivered using a combination of four-way temporary traffic signals and overnight road closures to help ensure the resurfacing can be carried out safely and efficiently.
The works will take place between the Tesco junction and Tillbury Avenue and are scheduled to begin on Sunday 23 August for six nights, subject to weather and site conditions.
The works will take place between 7pm and 1am each night. The road will reopen at approximately 3am to allow time for the newly laid material to cure.
On Sunday 23 August, four-way temporary traffic lights will be in place at the Tesco junction.
From Monday 24 August to Friday 28 August, Warwick Road will be closed through the works area during working hours of 7pm and 1am. Westbound local traffic will be diverted via Duranhill Road, with westbound HGV traffic diverted via the A6 London Road. Eastbound local traffic will be diverted via Eastern Way and Duranhill Road, while eastbound HGV traffic will be diverted via Eastern Way and London Road.
Traffic management will be removed outside of the working hours and the road will reopen at approximately 3am each morning.
The improvements form part of Cumberland Council's ongoing programme of highway maintenance works across the area, helping to improve road conditions and extend the life of the carriageway.
Access for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained throughout the works. Residents who live within the works area and require access are encouraged to speak with site staff, who will do their best to assist.
