Cumberland Council is inviting residents to join a week-long programme of activities and entertainment as Carlisle Library reopens its doors on Tuesday 4 August following its major transformation.
From 10am on opening day, visitors can explore the newly refurbished library and enjoy a variety of free activities taking place throughout the week. Families can look forward to crafts, face painting, children's entertainment, character visits, live music, storytimes and more as the community comes together to celebrate the start of a new chapter for one of Carlisle's most-loved public spaces.
The celebrations will continue throughout the week, giving residents plenty of opportunities to drop in, discover the new facilities and take part in activities at a time that suits them.
Carlisle Library has undergone a £3.3 million transformation, creating a modern, welcoming space for learning, creativity and community connection. The refurbished library includes a vibrant children's area, improved study facilities, adult learning spaces, enhanced digital access and comfortable areas for people to meet, learn and relax.

The transformed library has been designed as a modern hub where people of all ages can read, learn, develop new skills, access digital services and connect with others in the community.
