Cumberland Council will be carrying out footway improvement works on the B5307 Newtown Road in Carlisle, starting this week.
The works are expected to take approximately 33 working days, subject to weather conditions, and will be delivered in a series of phased sections along the road. As part of the scheme, sections of the footway will also be resurfaced to improve condition and make them safer for pedestrians. Working hours will be 9.00am to 4.00pm, Monday to Friday.
Outside of working hours, completed sections of the footpath will be re-opened to the public as soon as it is safe to do so.
To allow the works to be carried out safely, a combination of temporary road closures and multi-way traffic lights will be in place as the scheme progresses. Signed diversion routes will be provided where required.
