Cumberland Council is inviting residents to share their views on the types of new play equipment they would like to see installed at Green Lane Play Area in Heysham Park, Carlisle. The much‑loved community space is scheduled for refurbishment in summer 2026.

As part of the project, the existing play equipment will be removed and replaced with modern, high‑quality items that better reflect the needs of local residents. The council is committed to ensuring the new design is robust, long‑lasting, and includes improved seating and facilities for all ages. Inclusive equipment suitable for less able users will also be considered wherever possible, helping to create a space that everyone can enjoy.

A public consultation is now live and closes on Tuesday 3 March. This consultation offers residents the opportunity to help shape the future of the play area. A physical copy of the consultation is also available for students and parents at Belle Vue Primary School and Yewdale Nursery and Primary School. The Council is encouraging as many people as possible to get involved and share their ideas.

Anne Quilter, Cumberland Council’s Executive Member for Vibrant and Healthy Places, said:

“We’re encouraging residents to share their views on the Heysham Park Green Lane Play Area. Your feedback will help us understand what equipment and features would make the biggest difference for local families.

“Taking part in the consultation is a simple way to help shape a space the whole community can enjoy for years to come.”

The council looks forward to hearing from residents and working together to create a refreshed play area that reflects the community’s aspirations.
