Improvements planned for A591 at Skiddaw Service Station, Bassenthwaite

Cumberland Council will be carrying out carriageway resurfacing works on the A591 at Skiddaw Service Station, Bassenthwaite.

The works are scheduled to take place from Wednesday 15 April to Friday 17 April 2026, subject to weather and site conditions. To allow the works to be carried out safely, the road will be closed during this period.

The resurfacing works will operate under a formal road closure between 7.30am and 7.00pm each day, with traffic management in place.

Access for residents will be limited during working hours however, traffic marshals will be on site throughout the works and will make every effort to help residents access their properties where possible. Refuse collections will also be maintained when it is safe to do so.

Access for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
