10p swims for Cumberland children
All schoolchildren aged up to 16 years old from the Cumberland area will be able to go for a swim in a choice of five indoor pools for only 10p over the October school holidays (Monday 26 to Friday 30 October).
The discounted scheme has been put in place by Cumberland Council, with the support of Everyone Active, GLL and Wigton Baths Trust.
The council scheme will offer discounted swimming opportunities throughout the week.
It will be available at the following leisure sites at allocated times during the school holidays:
• The Sands Centre (Carlisle): Monday 26, Wednesday 28 and Friday 30 October, 10am – 10.50am. GLL Swim for £1 scheme will also take place on Tuesday 27 and Thursday 29 October.
• Cockermouth Leisure Centre: Monday 26, Wednesday 28 and Friday 30 October, 1pm – 2pm.
• Workington Leisure Centre: Monday 26, Wednesday 28 and Friday 30 October, 10am – 11am.
• Copeland Pool and Fitness Centre (Whitehaven): Monday 26, Wednesday 28 and Friday 30 October, 1pm – 2pm
• Wigton Baths: Monday 26 October and Friday 30 October, 11am – 12pm and Wednesday 28 October, 11.30am – 12.30pm.
Cllr Anne Quilter, Cumberland Council’s Executive Member for Vibrant and Healthy Places, said:

By offering 10p swims at five pools, we’re helping to make swimming affordable and accessible for families, and I’d encourage young people to take advantage of the offer this half term.”
