Night-time road closure for resurfacing works on Scotby Road

Highways team member and van

Cumberland Council will be carrying out carriageway resurfacing works on Scotby Road in Scotby, to help maintain the condition and safety of the local highway network.

The works are due to begin on Monday 23 March 2026 and will take place over five nights, subject to weather and site conditions.

To ensure the safety of both the workforce and road users, the works will be carried out under a formal night-time road closure. The closure will be in place between Oakbank Farm and Scotby Village Hall, with a signed diversion route operating throughout the scheme.

Work will take place each evening between 6.00pm and 1.00am, with the road remaining closed until 3.00am to allow for site clean-up and materials to cure properly.

Emergency service access will be maintained at all times, and pedestrian access will remain open throughout the works. However, between 6.00pm and 3.00am, vehicle movements within the closure will be restricted. Where possible, the site team will assist with initial access, although drivers should expect delays depending on where work is taking place. Repeated vehicle movements will not be possible during these hours to ensure the works can be completed safely and efficiently.

Residents and road users with special access requirements or those seeking further information are encouraged to visit cumberland.gov.uk/roads or contact the Highways Hotline on 0300 373 3736.

Cumberland Council thanks residents and road users for their cooperation while these scheduled works are carried out. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption.
