Overnight resurfacing works planned across key West Cumbria routes

Cumberland Council in partnership with Connect Roads will be carrying out a series of carriageway resurfacing works across key routes in West Cumbria this July.

The resurfacing schemes will take place at the following locations:

  • A595, Rosley Crossroads to Crofton Layby – starting 2 July 2026 for eight nights
  • A595, Bothel – starting 12 July 2026 for three nights
  • A596, Heathcote – starting 15 July 2026 for two nights

All works are subject to weather conditions and site constraints.

To allow the works to be carried out safely and efficiently, each scheme will be delivered under full overnight road closures between 7pm and 6am

Clearly signed diversion routes will be in place during the closures, and traffic management staff will be on site to assist. Residents and businesses within the closure areas will be escorted through the works where it is safe to do so, although short delays may be necessary depending on site activity.

Access for emergency services, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

These works form part of Cumberland Council’s commitment to maintaining the highway network and improving road surfaces for all users.

Residents who require special access arrangements or further information are encouraged to contact the council via the Highways Hotline on 0300 373 3736 or visit the council website: www.cumberland.gov.uk/roads.
