Installation is scheduled to begin on Wednesday 1st April 2026 and will be carried out by the council’s lining contractor. While the programme is weather‑dependent, the works are expected to take up to two days to complete. These works follow on from a previous programme that had to be postponed in December due to severe wet weather.

As part of the scheme, white ‘H‑bar’ markings will also be repainted where required.

To allow the works to be completed safely, there will be a temporary suspension of parking along sections of the affected street junctions during the installation period. In most cases, the restrictions will extend between two and four metres on either side of each junction.

The restrictions will be enforceable by the council’s Parking Enforcement Team, and motorists are advised that parking fines may be issued to vehicles left in affected areas. Residents and road users are therefore asked to ensure these sections are kept clear of parked vehicles from the evening of Tuesday 31st March, to allow the workforce to begin work on site on Monday 1 April.

Cumberland Council apologises for any inconvenience caused while these safety improvements are carried out and thanks residents for their patience and cooperation.
