Cumberland Council will be carrying out carriageway resurfacing works on Hespek Raise in Carlisle to help maintain the condition and safety of the local road network.
The works are scheduled to begin on Monday 23 March 2026 and will take place over three days, subject to weather and site conditions.
To ensure the safety of both the workforce and the public, the resurfacing will be carried out under a formal road closure. A signed diversion route will be in place for the duration of the works.
Construction will take place between 8am and 4pm each day.
Access for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. However, during working hours, vehicle access to properties and businesses within the closure will not be possible.
Residents and businesses within the affected area are therefore advised to make alternative parking arrangements outside of the traffic management extents during these times.
Residents and road users with special access requirements or those seeking further information are encouraged to visit cumberland.gov.uk/roads or contact the Highways Hotline on 0300 373 3736.
Cumberland Council thanks residents and road users for their cooperation while these scheduled works are carried out. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption.
