After months of hard work, revision and preparation, young people across Cumberland are receiving their GCSE results today. The results will help shape their next steps into sixth form, college, apprenticeships, training or employment.
Emma Hamer, Assistant Director for Education, SEND and Inclusion at Cumberland Council, said:
"Today is a big moment for young people across Cumberland, as the long wait is finally over. I hope every student takes time to recognise just how much effort they have put in to get to this point.
"GCSE results are not just about grades. They reflect months of learning, hard work, determination and the support students have had from the people around them.
"For some, today will bring celebration and excitement. For others, it may feel more uncertain. Whatever the outcome, I want young people to know that there are many routes into the future they want, and there is support available to help them take their next step. Please remember this is one chapter in your education journey, and as one chapter closes another one opens.
"I would like to say a huge congratulations to everyone receiving their results today. I also want to thank our teachers, school staff, parents, carers and families, whose encouragement and care makes such a difference. We are very proud of our young people and wish them every success for the future."
