Cumberland Council is advising residents that Workington Library will temporarily close for a short period while new lighting is installed on the ground floor of the building.
The improvement works will help create a brighter, more welcoming environment for customers and staff and form part of ongoing investment in the library building.
As part of the project, the café within the library will be closed for two weeks, from Monday 28 September until Monday 12 October.
The library itself will close for one week from Saturday 3 October and will reopen on Monday 12 October.
The council apologises for any inconvenience caused during this period and would like to thank customers for their patience and understanding while the improvements are carried out.
During the works there may also be some temporary noise and disruption within the building.
While Workington Library is closed, emails and telephone calls will continue to be monitored and customers can still access library services through Cumberland's network of libraries and Library Links. Staff will be happy to help residents identify the most convenient alternative location for their needs. A full list of locations can be found on the Cumberland Council website.
Customers can also continue to access a wide range of library services online, including eBooks, eAudiobooks, newspapers and magazines. Anyone who needs support accessing digital services can speak to library staff for assistance.
