Cumberland Council would like to update residents and businesses of upcoming highways maintenance work on Parkhouse Road, Moorhouse Road and Wigton Road in Carlisle.
This year’s Upperby Gala has been rearranged and will be held on Sunday 28 July at Hammond’s Pond, Carlisle.
The event was originally planned for Monday 27 May but was postponed due to saturated ground conditions following heavy rain.
Changes to language around autism are being introduced throughout services in both Cumberland and Westmorland and Furness Councils, health and NHS services, as well as in education settings and wider organisations. This is following a terminology consultation held by Cumbria County Council in 2022.
On 4 June, Cumberland Council published formal proposals to establish 58 additional Resource Provision placements for children and young people with SEND in several schools and academies across the Cumberland area.
On 4 June, Cumberland Council approved and adopted the school attendance pledge as a Council priority. The pledge is aimed at organisations and the wider community to drive down school absences, with the principle that school attendance is ‘everybody’s business’.
Voters in the Cumberland Council ward of Harraby North in Carlisle are being advised to be ready for the local election which will be held on 27 June 2024.
