Key Stage 1 Leader and Reading Leader

Required for September 2025 – permanent position

MPR/UPR plus TLR2 - this role is not suitable for ECTs.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate, and experienced Key Stage 1 Leader to join our team. As a Key Stage 1 Leader and Reading Leader, you will have the opportunity to shape and lead the development of early reading across the school.

As Key Stage 1 Leader and Reading Leader, you will play a crucial role in shaping the educational experience of our younger learners. You will be responsible for leading and inspiring a team of teachers and supporting staff in the Key Stage 1 phase, ensuring that every child receives a high-quality education that promotes their academic, social, and emotional development. You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to implement strategies that drive improvement in reading across the school.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Lead, manage, and motivate the Key Stage 1 team to deliver excellent teaching and learning outcomes.
•    Take responsibility for leading phonics and early reading.
•    Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement curriculum strategies and initiatives.
•    Monitor and evaluate the progress and achievement of pupils in Key Stage 1, ensuring effective interventions and support are in place.
•    Create and maintain an engaging and inclusive classroom environment where all students can thrive.
•    Lead professional development through coaching and monitoring of phonics.
•    Develop positive relationships with parents, carers, and the wider school community.
•    Lead CPD (Continuing Professional Development) for staff within the Key Stage 1 team.
•    Contribute to whole-school initiatives and promote the school’s values.

Key Requirements:
•    Qualified teacher status (QTS) and a strong understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum.
•    Significant experience and a passion for phonics and early reading development.
•    Previous leadership experience or a strong desire to take on a leadership role.
•    A passion for working with young children and supporting their academic and personal development.
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Strong organisational and leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
•    A commitment to inclusion, diversity, and promoting a positive learning environment for all children.
