Teacher – Maternity Cover

Start date: 1st September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Part time 0.67 pro rata.

This position is part time and initially fixed term until 12th June 2026 with the possibility of it being extended.

We are seeking to appoint a teacher working with a small, mixed KS1 & KS2 class, initially across five mornings and one afternoon.

The successful applicant will:
•    Be suitably qualified to work with pupils in key stages 1 and 2;
•    Work flexible hours as per the needs of the school;
•    Be enthusiastic, dynamic and committed to supporting pupil outcomes;
•    Demonstrate the highest of standards to deliver outstanding pupil progress.

Bowness-on-Solway Primary School is accessible from Carlisle, Wigton and the surrounding areas. It is set in a stunning rural location with open and uninterrupted views of the Lakeland fells and access to the shore on the idyllic Solway Firth. The school boasts a wealth of outdoor space including our own woodland. It is judged to be ‘good’ by Ofsted and was recently recognised as performing in the top 1% of schools across the country with regard to KS2 mathematics, reading and writing.

Pupil and staff well-being are the highest priorities of the headteacher and governors.
