This is an exciting, opportunity for an experienced leader to make a positive impact to a vibrant and welcoming school. Our Voluntary Controlled school is situated in the ‘Georgian Gem’ town of Whitehaven on the west coast of Cumbria, in close proximity to the unspoilt Western Lake District. The school is well established in this strong supportive community and is closely associated with St James’ Infant School and the parish of Whitehaven. In 2022 Ofsted judged the school as ‘good’ and in 2023 the school was also graded as good by SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools).
The Governing Body of St James’ Junior C of E Junior School wish to appoint an interim headteacher, due to the resignation of our longstanding headteacher, who will maintain the school’s high standards whilst bringing continuity of leadership. If appropriate, and subject to the agreement of an existing employer, this post could be a secondment opportunity.
The governors are keen to appoint someone who:
• Puts children at the forefront of everything they do;
• Supports, maintains, and nurtures our caring Christian community and ethos;
• has the ability to inspire and motivate children and staff;
• is an inspirational leader with high expectations of achievement and behaviour from all children;
• is capable of strategic management.
St James’ C of E Junior School offers:
• a strong and open Christian ethos;
• committed and enthusiastic children who enjoy school;
• a caring school where everyone is valued;
