This is a rare opportunity to join the team at Bowness-on-Solway Primary School – a small, welcoming and highly desirable rural school in a beautiful location.

We are seeking to appoint a committed and caring teacher to work with a very small mixed EYFS and Key Stage 1 class. This is a fixed-term maternity cover role which offers an excellent opportunity for a teacher early in their career to make a real difference in a supportive and nurturing environment.

We are looking for someone who:
•    Is suitably qualified to teach pupils in Early Years and Key Stage 1;
•    Demonstrates enthusiasm and a commitment to improving outcomes for all pupils;
•    Sets high expectations and delivers excellent progress through high-quality teaching and learning.

Our school is easily accessible from Carlisle, Wigton and the surrounding areas, set in a stunning rural location with open views of the Lakeland fells and the idyllic Solway Firth shoreline. We are fortunate to have extensive outdoor space, including our own woodland area.

Bowness-on-Solway Primary School was judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2025 and was recently recognised as being in the top 1% of schools nationally for outcomes in reading, writing and mathematics. The well-being of pupils and staff is at the heart of everything that we do.
