Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCO)

Full-Time: Permanent
Competitive Salary: (Leadership Scale – Dependent on Experience) Please note there is also a teaching responsibility with this role.

We are seeking an outstanding SENDCo to join our dedicated team at our wonderful school. Mayfield School is a thriving school, supporting amazing young people from the age of 4 to 19 with a wide range of complex needs.

This is an exciting opportunity for a committed professional who believes every child deserves an ambitious, personalised education and who has the expertise to drive outstanding SEND provision across the school.

This role will work to ensure that all our young people receive personalised, high-quality support that enables them to achieve their potential. The SENDCO will champion inclusive practice, work collaboratively with staff and external agencies, and model professional integrity.

Key Responsibilities:
·    Support with the strategic development of SEND provision in the school.
·    Oversee legal requirements, to include Annual Reviews, Interim reviews and Emergency Reviews of EHCP’s in line with the SEND code of practice
·    Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the SEND policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils.
·    Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies
·    Advise on the use of school’s budget and other resources to meet pupils’ needs effectively, including staff development
·    Promote inclusion in the school community and access to the curriculum.
·    Leading and managing staff and the effective deployment of staff and resources
·    Lead on interventions that will support all pupils
·    Attend and review meetings

We Are Looking For Someone Who:
·    Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
·    Has achieved (or is working towards) the National Award for SEND Coordination
·    Is passionate about education and inclusion
·    Has experience working within a special school or specialist provision
·    Has strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
·    Is confident leading multi-agency collaboration
·    Has excellent communication and organisational skills
·    Is passionate about inclusion and improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
