General Synopsis
Today’s weather is influenced by a temporary ridge of high pressure, with light rain possible in some places.
From Sunday night, a large low-pressure system over the Atlantic near Iceland will begin to affect Cumberland. Associated weather fronts will bring moderate rainfall, while wintry precipitation is possible in the Lake District and across the Pennines. South-westerly winds will be around 7–12 mph today, strengthening tomorrow morning to 17–22 mph with gusts reaching 35–40 mph. Road surface temperatures (RST) will generally remain above freezing, although during Saturday night into Sunday temperatures in the Lake District and the Pennines may drop below 0 °C, creating a risk of ice and frost.
Visibility will generally be good, but it may temporarily deteriorate in precipitation, cloud cover, and in higher elevations.
