Forecast:
Headline
RSTs will generaly above zero, in parts of the Lake District and the Pennines will lower sub zero. Wind gusts 25–30 mph expected today.
Confidence
High, low for ice and hoar frost risk.
General Synopsis
The Azores High remains in the form of elongated ridges extending across the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, a low-pressure system over the Norwegian Sea will allow a cold front to move across the country, bringing a chance of light rain to Cumbria late in the afternoon or early evening. Winds from the southwest will shift to the northwest behind the front, then turn back to the southwest later on Thursday, with gusts of 25–30 mph expected today. Tomorrow will be cooler but largely sunny until another front brings a further spell of rain. RSTs in the western region will stay above freezing, but will lower sub zero at times tomorrow in the early hours in parts of the Lake District and the Pennines. Lakes and Pennines will also see a brief dip in air temperature that could lead to a low risk of ice and hoar frost on wet ground. Visibility will remain good.
