Required from September 2026 until July 2027 (exact dates to be confirmed), a well-qualified Science teacher to cover maternity leave.

The Nelson Thomlinson School is a high performing secondary school on the fringe of the Lake District in Cumbria, serving the needs of the small town of Wigton and its surrounding catchment area. We have a strong, academic ethos whilst recognising the comprehensive nature of our intake and constantly strive for further improvement with our pupils’ interests lying at the heart of all we do. Ofsted’s most recent visit in October 2023 highlighted our strong traditions and a school where pupils (and staff) are proud to live out its values. 

The Science department shares this ethos and prides itself on the quality of education it provides for pupils of all ages and abilities. We are looking for a highly talented and dedicated teacher to join an experienced team, passionate about their subject. We offer opportunities to teach across the ability range in KS3 and KS4, with the possibility of KS5 teaching for a colleague with the relevant specialism. 

Professional development is a particular strength and we can offer the successful candidate a professionally rewarding environment in which to develop their skills.
