Required from September 2026 a teacher of English. Applications are welcomed from both well-qualified experienced teachers or ECTs.

The Nelson Thomlinson School is a high performing secondary school on the fringe of the Lake District in Cumbria, serving the needs of the small town of Wigton and its surrounding catchment area. We have a strong, academic ethos whilst recognising the comprehensive nature of our intake and constantly strive for further improvement with our pupils’ interests lying at the heart of all we do. Ofsted’s most recent visit in October 2023 highlighted our strong traditions and a school where pupils (and staff) are proud to live out its values.

We are looking for a highly talented and dedicated English teacher to join an experienced team, passionate about their subject. 

The successful candidate will teach all abilities across KS3 and KS4 and have the opportunity to teach KS5 if they have appropriate experience/qualifications. 

We will appoint someone who has strong team-work skills, who cares about the subject and who cares about teaching. The successful candidate will need to be reflective about their own skills, be prepared to learn and improve as a teacher, and be willing to share with and contribute to the work of the team. There will be plenty of scope to develop interests, enthusiasms and initiatives. Suitable for experienced teachers or ECTs.
