Cleaner (Maternity Cover)

Fixed Term Contract – 1 Year  

18 hours per week £12.60 per hour (£24,309 per annum pro rata, including living wage supplement)

Bowness-on-Solway Primary School is seeking to appoint a reliable and conscientious Cleaner to join our small, friendly school team.

About the Role: 

This is a part-time Cleaner position working 18 hours per week, outside of school hours. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the school premises.

The role includes key holder responsibilities and lone working in the evenings to ensure the school is secure. A comprehensive induction and handover period will be provided.

Key Information:

•    Contract: Fixed term for one year, subject to a three-month probationary period
•    Start Date: As soon as possible
•    Holiday Entitlement: 33 days per year (to be taken during school holiday periods)
•    Location: Bowness-on-Solway Primary School, Bowness-on-Solway, CA7 5AF

Main Duties:

•    Cleaning of classrooms, toilets, halls, and communal areas to a high standard
•    Maintaining a clean, safe, and pleasant environment for pupils and staff
•    Securing the building at the end of the cleaning shift
•    Working independently and using initiative

Essential Requirements:

•    A strong work ethic and commitment to high standards of cleanliness
•    Ability to work independently
•    Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check and engage with safeguarding training
•    Reliability and punctuality

Desirable:

•    Previous cleaning experience (not essential)

Bowness-on-Solway Primary School is a small, rural primary school with a warm, family atmosphere. The school is situated in a beautiful location overlooking the Solway Firth and Lakeland fells.
