We are looking for a dedicated and reliable Kitchen Manager to join our thriving school community. As our Kitchen Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running and managing of our school kitchen. Your attention to detail and proactive approach will contribute to creating a safe, clean and welcoming environment for our pupils, staff and visitors.
Your main responsibilities will include:
• Developing nutritious, balanced and appealing menus that comply with dietary guidelines,
• Lead the preparation and cooking of all meals in line with school menus and agreed recipes
• Ensuring that food is prepared safely, efficiently and in accordance with health regulations.
• Ensure that all kitchen and dining room equipment is used appropriately and safely, cleaned and maintained in line with manufacturer’s guidance
• Maintain a cleaning programme that promotes the highest standards of cleanliness.
• Ensure the hygienic disposal of waste foods.
• To maintain confidentiality of information acquired in the course of undertaking duties for the school.
• To undertake training as and when required.
• Training of and supervising kitchen staff, including assigning duties.
• Maintaining accurate records of inventory, purchases and meal counts.
• Addressing concerns from students, staff and parents regarding meal services and ensuring a positive dining experience.
• Arranging the catering and staffing for school functions and events, as instructed by the Headteacher
• Placing food orders with 3rd party suppliers
We are looking for someone who has:
• Proven experience of food service management, preferably in an educational setting.
• Relevant certifications in food safety and hygiene, and the ability to manage and motivate kitchen staff.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication abilities for interacting with staff, pupils and school administrators.
• Aptitude for addressing issues related to food supply, staff performance and kitchen operations efficiently.
• Commitment to providing healthy, balanced meals that meet dietary guidelines and cater to student needs.
• Ability to adapt to changing menus and any unexpected challenges.
• Ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation and cleanliness are consistently met.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and build positive relationships.
