Conservation areas

Conservation areas have special architectural or historic interest.

A conservation area is part of a town that by reason of its special architectural and or historic interest is thought to merit extra safeguards.

Within conservation areas, the council seeks to protect and enhance the character and expects special attention to be paid to design details of new developments.

Once designated, any work to buildings and trees in a conservation area will need approval.
