Copeland Local Plan 2021 to 2038

A public consultation was held on the final draft of the Copeland Local Plan 2021 to 2038 was held from Monday 10 January to Friday 18 March 2022.

The Copeland Local Plan 2021 to 2038 covers the area outside the Lake District National Park.

It sets out how development will be planned and managed across the area including:

  • how much development is needed and where it should take place
  • policies to guide high-quality development and supporting infrastructure
  • site allocations for housing, regeneration and employment
  • areas to be protected from development
  • policies used when determining planning applications

Publication draft addendum

Copeland Borough Council consulted on an addendum to the Local Plan publication draft between 13 July and 24 August 2022.

The addendum proposed changes to:

  • Policy H9 (Gypsy and Traveller allocation)
  • Policy N5 (water resources)
