Notice of a councillor vacancy and how to request a by-election.

A vacancy has arisen in the office of councillor for Harraby South ward following the resignation of Councillor Lucy Patrick.

Casual vacancies are usually filled through a by-election.

The notice of election has now been published and if contested, the poll will take place on Thursday 20 August.

Key dates

Important deadline dates:

  • Thursday 16 July - Publication of notice of election
  • Friday 17 July to Friday 24 July, between 10am and 4pm - Delivery of nomination papers
  • Friday 24 July, 4pm - Deadline for nomination papers
  • Tuesday 4 August, midnight - Deadline for applications to be added to electoral register
  • Tuesday 5 August, 5pm - Deadline for applying for a postal vote and for making changes to existing postal or proxy votes
  • Wednesday 12 August, 5pm - Deadline for applying to vote by proxy
  • Wednesday 12 August, 5pm - Deadline for receiving applications for Voter Authority Certificates
