Selling a listed asset
If the owner wants to sell a listed asset, they must tell us. We’ll notify the nominating group and publish this on our website.
Eligible groups then have 6 weeks to express interest in bidding. Not all groups who can nominate are allowed to bid. For example, unincorporated groups cannot legally own property.
If no group expresses interest, the owner can sell the asset.
If a group does express interest, a 6 month moratorium period begins. This gives the group time to raise funds and prepare a bid. The owner can choose to negotiate with the group during this time, but they are not required to.
At the end of the moratorium, the owner will have the option to either accept the bid or sell the property freely on the open market.
