The role of the Chair, who is elected by members of the Council at the Annual meeting, is non-political. The Chair promotes public involvement in the Council’s activities, acting as a focal point for the community. Presiding over meetings of the Council, the Chair ensures that business is carried out efficiently and with regard to the rights of councillors and the interests of the communities they represent.
The current Chair of the Council is Cllr Andy Semple and the Vice-Chair is Cllr Gillian Troughton.
They were re-elected into these roles in May 2026.
