How to report a stray dog or find out about a lost dog.

If you see a stray dog and it’s in a secure location (not roaming freely), contact us with:

  • a description of the dog
  • the location

If we’ve collected your dog, you’ll need to pay a fee before it’s returned. Fees and charges will be discussed and agreed over the phone.

Lost dogs in the Copeland area

We hold stray dogs for 7 days at the kennels. After that, they may be rehomed.

If we’ve collected your dog, you’ll need to pay a fee before you can pick the dog up:

  • stray dog returned via the kennels - £67.50
  • additional kennelling fee for each day - £14.60

Microchipping your dog

All dogs must be microchipped by a vet.

A microchip is a small device placed under the skin that helps identify the dog and its owner.

Dogs with microchips are much more likely to be reunited with their owners.
