Premises licence

What you need to know before you apply for a premises licence, including what is termed a licensable activity and who can apply.

After we receive your premises licence application

On the day after we receive your application, a 28-day consultation period will begin.

Public consultation

All applications are listed on licence applications and reviews.

People can make a representation (objection) to your application, based on the 4 licensing objectives.

Responsible authorities consultation

We will send a copy of your application to every responsible authority listed on our responsible authorities page.

After the 28-day consultation period is over

Once this consultation period is over, and we receive no representations or objections, we will post your premises licence to you.

Find out what happens if we do receive any representations to your application.

Advertising your application

You are also required by law to advertise your application on a poster and in a local newspaper.

Read our guidance on advertising a Licensing Act 2003 licence application.
