Once you have applied for Housing Payments, we will assess your circumstances and send you a written decision.

How your application is assessed

Each application is assessed individually based on your circumstances.

Awards may be made for one of the following:

• a short period to give time to improve your financial position
• a longer period where circumstances are unlikely to change soon

Your decision letter will confirm:

• the award amount
• the period covered
• any conditions

If you disagree with our decision

There is no right of appeal to an independent tribunal.

However, you can request a review within one month of the decision letter if you believe the decision is wrong.
