Carriageway Resurfacing Works – Dalston Road, Carlisle

road works

Cumberland Council will be carrying out essential resurfacing works on Dalston Road, Carlisle, starting Monday 3 November 2025 for ten nights.

These improvement works form part of Cumberland Council’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and enhancing the local highway network. To ensure the safety of both the workforce and the travelling public, the resurfacing will be completed under a full night-time road closure, with a signed diversion route in place throughout the works.

The project will be delivered in two phases:

•    Phase 1: Monday 3 – Friday 7 November
Between Dunmail Drive and Richardson Street

•    Phase 2: Monday 10 – Friday 14 November
Between Woodend Drive and Pirelli

Working hours will be from 6.00pm to 1.00am each evening, however the road will remain closed until 3.00am to allow for clean-up and curing of materials.

During working hours, no vehicular access will be permitted within the work areas. However, access for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians, and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

Residents and businesses with specific access requirements are encouraged to contact the council in advance.

Cumberland Council thanks residents and road users for their patience and cooperation and apologises for any inconvenience these necessary works may cause. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption.
