Remedial resurfacing works schedules for A595 in Whicham Valley

Road Patching

Cumberland Council will be carrying out remedial carriageway resurfacing works on the A595 in Whicham Valley, starting on Monday 7 July.

These remedial works are being carried out to address defects from previous resurfacing and will be completed at the contractor’s expense, ensuring no additional cost to the council or local taxpayers.

The works will begin on Monday 7 July 2025 and are expected to continue for up to two weeks, subject on weather and site conditions.

To ensure the safety of both the workforce and the public, the works will take place, under a full road closure from Monday to Friday between 7.00am and 7.00pm.

Access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians, and dismounted cyclists throughout the works. Waste and recycling collections will continue as usual. Updates about temporary bus stop relocations will be posted at affected stops. Any queries regarding bus routes should be directed to Stagecoach.

Where safe and practical, vehicle access for residents and businesses will be maintained, although there may be periods during specific operations when access is temporarily restricted. Residents and businesses with specific access requirements are asked to liaise directly with the contractors on site.

Cumberland Council would like to thank all residents and road users for their patience and cooperation during this time. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption.
