A low-pressure system over Scandinavia will drift slowly northward and gradually weaken, becoming centred across the northern Norwegian Sea later on Tuesday. Meanwhile, a new, complex Atlantic low is developing south of Iceland today. This system will deepen and track across the northern British Isles tonight and through Tuesday. Road surface temperatures (RSTs) will range between 2°C and 14°C, with the lowest values expected across the eastern Lake District, central and southern Pennines. Light, occasionally moderate rain is likely this evening and intermittently through Tuesday, generally producing less than 2 mm/hr. Winds will strengthen this evening, reaching over 25 mph in places overnight and on Tuesday.
