Winds will be strong and gusty, with sustained speeds exceeding 20–30 mph and storm-force gusts above 40 mph, occasionally reaching up to 50 mph, particularly over high ground and in coastal areas of Cumberland. Heavy rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. Visibility will deteriorate from very good to moderate or poor during heavier downpours. Prolonged heavy rain is likely to result in flooding across the Cumberland region, with potential disruption to road transport.
