Over the next 48 hours, a large and complex low-pressure system over the Atlantic near Iceland will influence weather conditions across Cumberland. Associated frontal systems will bring periods of moderate precipitation, while wintry precipitation may occur overnight in the Lake District and across the Pennines. South-westerly winds today are expected to range between 17 and 22 mph, with gusts reaching 35–40 mph. Road surface temperatures will generally remain above freezing, although they may fall below 0 °C in the Lake District and central Pennines overnight from Sunday into Monday, creating a risk of frost and icy patches. Visibility is expected to remain generally good.
