Grants of up to £15,000 are available for landlords and businesses with properties fronting on to King Street in Whitehaven.
Using £100,000 of Sellafield Social Impact Investment Fund support, owners and businesses with a property fronting King Street can apply for a Shopfront Improvement Grant of 50%, up to a maximum of £5,000, towards the costs of improving their frontages.
For vacant properties, owners, or in going businesses, can apply for a Vacant Building Grant of 50%, up to a maximum of £15,000, to improve frontages and make interiors fit for occupation.
The closing date for applications is Tuesday 17 March 2026 and all funding will be allocated by 31 March 2026, with works needing to be completed by 31 October 2026. This is a discretionary grant for businesses that can demonstrate an improvement to the amenity and vitality of the street.
