Shuttle ID

Digitalised bus passes for pupils and students when using school transport.

Shuttle ID is a digital bus pass system that uses a QR code instead of a paper ticket or plastic card. It will help make school transport more:

  • secure - each student has a unique QR code
  • efficient - no delays waiting for replacement passes
  • flexible - we can issue or change passes instantly via email
  • greener - no need to print and post plastic passes

Getting your QR code

You will receive an email from Shuttle ID with your child's QR code and instructions on how to use it. This usually happens the week before your child's route switches to the new system.

If you haven't received an email with the QR code, make sure you check your junk or spam folder. If you still can't find it, contact our school transport team.

Using the QR code

The QR code can be shown on a smartphone or it can be printed out and carried in a bag or pocket.

Pupils and students will scan their QR code when boarding their school bus. Remind your child to have their QR code ready to scan when they get on the bus. This helps avoid delays and keeps the bus running on time for everyone.

Your child will use the same QR code all year unless your child's transport arrangements change. If they do, a new QR code will be emailed to you right away.

If your child's route changes, we will update their Shuttle ID and send you a new QR code by email.

Lost or forgotten QR codes

While the new system is being introduced, no child will be left behind.

Our bus drivers and council officers are aware of the new system and will make sure your child can still travel while we help you replace the QR code.

Other benefits

Shuttle ID includes a bus tracking feature that allows you and your child to see the live location of the bus. This feature is shared through the link in the Shuttle ID ticket email.

The system will work in areas with poor signal. The driver app works offline and tickets can still be scanned even if there's no mobile signal. Information will update automatically once the connection returns.

To make sure everyone travelling is authorised and safe, drivers are alerted if the ticket:

  • is for the wrong route
  • has been used already
  • has expired or not yet active

Contact us

You can contact the school transport team if you:

  • can't find your email with the QR code
  • don't have a printer or access to email
  • have any questions or issues

We can work with your child's school to make sure they still receive their bus pass in a way that works for you.
