Work on a new Innovation Centre in Workington has been completed. The building has now been handed-over from Cumberland Council to Oxford Innovation Space who will fit-out the building in preparation for an opening in summer 2026.Morgan Sindall Construction was the main contractor for the project.

Millom’s new leisure facility—featuring a pool, sports hall, fitness studio and 3G pitch—is nearing completion and will be discussed at a stakeholder workshop on 16 April.

Cumberland Council is advising residents that Carlisle Library will temporarily close from Monday 23 March as the final major stage of refurbishment works gets underway. The newly improved library is expected to reopen in mid-June 2026.
