Get involved with the Tour of Britain 2026
Community organisations across West Cumbria are gearing up for the arrival of the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women 2026 after securing grant funding to deliver projects that promote cycling, bring communities together and celebrate one of the UK's most prestigious sporting events.
We have awarded more than £31,600 through our Community Grants programme to support a range of engagement and participation activities linked to the race.
The funding is helping local organisations create projects that encourage participation, promote cycling, support women and girls to get active and help communities make the most of the opportunities presented by hosting a major national sporting event.
If you are a business, there is still time to get involved:
- spread the news about the tour and where it will be visiting
- tell customers about the changes to opening hours or road closures
- spread the word via your newsletters, e-shots and social media
- use your website and social media to highlight everything you're doing
- share images of what your business is planning or creating
- Follow Cumberland Council and Western Lakes and Coast on Facebook and share their news on the run up to the event
