We are carrying out an interim review of polling districts, polling places and polling stations across Cumberland.
Councils must regularly review voting arrangements to make sure residents have reasonable and accessible places to vote. The last full review took place in 2024 following the creation of Cumberland Council.
The next statutory review is not due until 2029. This interim review is being carried out following the recent boundary review and to consider polling stations that are no longer available or suitable.
The review affects all Cumberland wards. In some areas the proposed changes are minor, such as updates to polling district codes. In other areas, there are proposed changes to polling district boundaries, polling places or polling station venues.

Any registered elector can make representations about the current and proposed arrangements. We welcome comments and suggestions from anyone with knowledge or experience of improving access for people with disabilities.
Where possible, representations should include details of alternative locations that could be used as polling places.

As part of the review, we will consult with:
- the Acting Returning Officer
- local councillors
- parish councils
- political parties
- community organisations
- charities
- disability groups
Feedback received during the consultation will be considered before final recommendations are made.
The outcome of the review will be used to prepare the revised Register of Electors, which is planned to be published on Tuesday 1 December 2026.
