Commemoration for the Armed Forces
We recognise and remember the armed forces community and their contribution to society, past and present.
Through local initiatives, we aim to raise awareness and show support for:
- serving personnel
- veterans
- forces families
- cadets
The Armed Forces Covenant supports events such as Remembrance Sunday and Armed Forces Day.
Armed Forces Day
Armed Forces Day is an opportunity to show support for the armed forces community and raise public awareness of their role. It celebrates those currently serving, veterans, families and cadets.
The next Armed Forces Day is Saturday 27 June 2026.
Remembrance Sunday
Remembrance Sunday 2025 will take place on Sunday 9 November.
Events will be held across Cumberland. Please check local listings for services near you.
War Memorials
The War Memorials Trust offers advice on protecting and conserving war memorials across the UK. It also runs grant schemes to support their repair and maintenance.
