Personal licence

What you need to know before you apply for a personal licence, including what is termed a licensable activity and who can apply.

After you've applied for a personal licence

It can take up to 4 to 6 weeks to process your application.

Your personal licence will last indefinitely, if granted.

You may lose your licence if we become aware of a criminal conviction.

Relevant offences

If you have been convicted of a relevant offence, we will let the police know of your application and convictions.

The police have 14 days to decide whether they object to you being granted a personal licence.

Objections

If an objection is made, the application will be referred to a Licensing Sub-Committee, which will decide whether to grant or refuse the licence based on the the crime prevention objective.
