How we will support you with homelessness
If you contact us because you are homeless or at risk of losing your home, we will work with you to understand your situation and agree the support you need.
We can help by:
- arranging an appointment
- assessing your situation and identifying your housing support needs
- providing you with a housing plan that sets out what you can do
Help to stay in your home
If possible, we will try to help you remain in your current accommodation.
This may include:
- talking to your landlord or mortgage provider
- working with family or friends to prevent you from having to leave
- advice on benefits and housing costs
- help to access financial support where available
- referrals to support services
Help to find somewhere else to live
If you cannot stay in your home, we will help you find alternative accommodation.
This may include:
- helping you find private rented accommodation
- referring you to housing providers
- supporting you to access accommodation that meets your needs
Emergency and temporary accommodation
If you have nowhere to stay, we may be able to provide temporary accommodation. This will depend on your circumstances and whether you qualify for this support.
Providing housing
We do not have a duty to provide housing to everyone who is homeless.
We will first assess whether we have a legal duty to help you secure accommodation. This depends on your individual circumstances.
If we do have a duty, we will work with you to help you access longer-term housing.
Ongoing support
We will continue to support you while your case is open.
This may include:
- reviewing your housing plan
- helping you find and secure accommodation
- working with other services to support your needs
