Overview
Carlisle Library's Local Studies Collection was established through the bequest of William Jackson FSA (1823 to 1890), a local historian and collector.
The collection has continued to grow and now includes:
- books
- archives
- newspapers
- maps
- photographs
- other historical records relating to Cumberland, Westmorland and the wider Lake Counties
Some items date back to the seventeenth century.
