Apply for a premises licence

You must submit a premises plan with your premises licence application.

Your plans must be drawn in a scale of 1:100. We accept alternative scales, if we have received an application in writing and agreed the request. The total extent of the proposed licensed area to be defined by a continuous red line.

Submitting your plans and government regulations

Regulations approved by the government state that plans should show:

• the extent of the boundary of the building (if relevant), and any external and internal walls of the building and, if different, the perimeter of the premises
• access routes in and out of the premises
• the location of escape routes, if different from the access routes in and out
• if the premises are to be used for more than one existing licensable activity, the area for each activity
• where alcohol is supplied and the locations where alcohol is consumed
• any structure which may interfere with any persons use of exits or escape routes
• if there is a stage or raised area, the location of these and their height from the floor
• if there are any steps, stairs, elevators or lifts, and their locations
• the location of any toilets
• the location of any fire fighting equipment and any other safety equipment
• the location of any kitchen

The plan should include a key which refers to different features with a symbol. Use the following colour code:

• red - sale of alcohol
• green - regulated entertainment (if different from above)
• blue - late night refreshment (if different from above)
• brown - cinema and theatre

You do not have to have your plans professionally drawn. What is important is that they are accurate and meet the requirement regulations.
