Applying for a premises licence
You must:
- be aged 18 years and over
- have authorisation if applying on behalf of a company or partnership
- hold a relevant operating licence
What you need to provide
Your application must include plans of the premises (for new or varied licences).
If your premises are not yet built or ready for use, you can apply for a provisional statement.

Notice of application
You must give notice of your application by:
- advertising your application in the local newspaper
- displaying a notice outside the premises
- sending copies to all responsible authorities (we can provide a list)
After you've applied
The application period is 28 calendar days.
If there are any objections (called representations), we may hold a hearing. We will contact you if this happens.
After your application is considered, we will send you a:
- notice of grant or rejection
- summary of the decision
- licence with annexes detailing any conditions
Licence conditions
Each premises licence incudes:
- mandatory conditions - these cannot be changed
- default conditions - these can be changed or removed
