More examples of working together

The examples above are not everything. Working together is also shaping everyday practice, learning and improvement across Adult Social Care and Housing.

Approved Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) work

People with lived experience helped shape feedback tools and learning linked to Mental Health Act assessments. This focused on how assessments feel during times of crisis, including communication, approach and environment. The learning is supporting more trauma‑aware practice.

Technology Enabled Care (TEC)

A person using technology at home worked with staff to show what Technology Enabled Care looks like in everyday life. This helped staff understand the impact on independence and confidence, not just the equipment, and increased confidence in recommending TEC appropriately.

Commissioning differently in Millom

People, carers, community groups and small local providers worked together to explore what good support looks like in a coastal community. This led to a shared understanding of local priorities, including community‑based day opportunities, clearer information about what’s available, and stronger local connections to shape future services.

Shared Lives

People supported through Shared Lives worked alongside carers and staff to shape social events, activities and peer support. Rather than staff planning activities, people made choices together, from trips out to creative projects, building confidence, connection and everyday working together through things that matter to them.

Regional learning: Over a Brew (North East ADASS)

People with lived experience, carers, social workers and partners took part in regional Over a Brew sessions to share honest experiences and learning. Insight from these conversations has informed local practice, supported reflective learning in teams, and helped keep improvement work grounded in what people say really matters.
