Working Together Charter: agreeing what good involvement should feel like

What this work was about

The Working Together Charter sets out what good involvement should feel like. It is written in plain language, from the perspective of people taking part.
The Charter is in its final co‑design stage, shaped with people who have lived experience, carers, community organisations and partners.

What people told us

People said involvement needs to feel respectful, honest and fair. They wanted clarity about how decisions are made, how their experience will be used, and how people will be supported when they take part.

“We’re often asked to bring the voice of lived experience but can’t always be sure people will be cared for or that their input will be used meaningfully. This event gave me real hope that the hard work is being done.”

What changed

The Charter is being refined and tested to make sure it is practical, clear and easy to use in real situations.
Once finalised, it will be published here.

Why this matters

A shared Charter helps people know what to expect and supports staff to work in more consistent and respectful ways.
